HIAWATHA Belastraw Art. 35, 3 tubes each Light (L) and Dark (D) and
HIAWATHA Metallic Corde Art. 64, 3 tubes for Trimming (T)

Steel crochet hook No. 00

Gauge: 4 sc = 1"

BOTTOM—Inside—With double strand of L ch 35, to measure 8". Rnd 1—2 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 32 ch, 4 sc in last ch, continuing around other side work sc in next 32 ch, 2 sc in same place as first 2 sc (72 sts). Mark beg of rnds. Rnd 2—2 sc in each of next 2 sc, sc in next 32 sc, 2 sc in each of next 4 sc, sc in next 32 sc, 2 sc in each of last 2 sc (8 incs—4 at each end). Rnds 3, 4 and 5—Inc 4 sc evenly around each end (not directly over incs of previous rnd). Rnd 6—Sc in each sc (104 sc). Piece should measure 2¾" x 10½". Sl st in next st. End off. Outside—Same as Inside but do not end off (be sure both pieces have same number of sts).

SIDES—Rnd 1—With double strand of L, working through back loops only of Out­side and both loops of Inside, and insert­ing base, work * sc in next 9 sts, 2 sc in next st. Repeat from * around (114 sts). Work 3 rnds even. Sl st in next st. End off L. Join triple strand of T in same place as sl st, ch 2, work hdc in each st around. Join and end off. Join double strand D in joining. Through back loop of hdc work sc around (leaving top two strands to form chain on right side). Work 3 more rnds sc even with D. Sl st in next st. End off D. ** Work 1 rnd hdc with triple T, 4 rnds sc with double L, 1 rnd hdc with triple T and 4 rnds sc with double D. Repeat from ** ending with 1 D rnd after 7th T stripe. On front loops, work sl st around. Join and end off.

HANDLES—With double strand of D ch 4. Row 1—Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn. Row 2—Sc in each st. Repeat row 2 until Handle is 16" long then work sc along both long edges. End off. With triple T work sc all around.

Finishing—Sew on Handles as shown.
