MATERIALS:
J. & P. COATS KNIT-CRO-SHEEN: For Size 6—1 ball each of Spanish Red, Hunter's Green, White and Dark Yel­low. For Size 8 or 10—2 balls each of Spanish Red, Hunter's Green and Dark Yellow, and 1 ball of White.
Milward's Steel Crochet Hook No. 6.
¾ yd. of belting, 1½" wide.

Starting at left side with White, make a chain of

1st row: Dc in 6th ch from hook, * ch 1, skip 1 ch, dc in next ch. Repeat from * across until row measures

Fasten off White. Cut off remaining chain. Turn.

2nd row: Attach Green to 1st ch-1 sp, ch 4, * dc in next sp, ch 1. Repeat from * across, ending with dc in last sp, ch 1, dc in top of turning ch. Fasten off Green. Turn. 3rd row: Attach Yellow to 1st ch-1 sp, ch 4, * dc in next sp, ch 1. Repeat from * across, ending with dc in last sp, ch 1, dc in 3rd st of ch-4. Fasten off Yellow. Turn. Repeat the 3rd row for pattern, working colors as follows: * 1 row Red, 1 row White, 1 row Green, 1 row Yellow. Repeat from * until piece measures, ending with a row of Red

Waistband … 1st row: Working along one long side of skirt with White, make sc in each row across, thus shirring skirt. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: Dc in next st and in each st across, decreasing as necessary so that waistband will measure

3rd row: Attach Green in 1st dc, ch 3, dc in next dc, dc in each remaining st across. Fasten off. Turn. Repeat the 3rd row for pattern, changing colors as fol­lows: 1 row Yellow, 1 row Red, 1 row White, 1 row Green. This completes waistband.

Sew seam in skirt, starting at bottom edge and sewing to within 2" of waist­band. Line waistband with belting, and machine stitch in place. Sew on hooks and eyes.
