COATS & CLARK'S RED HEART KNITTING WORSTED, 4 Ply, Art. E. 230-B (2 oz. "Tangle-Proof" Pull-Out Skeins): 1 skein each of No. 676 Emerald Green and No. 360 Wood Brown.

GAUGE: 4 sts = 1 inch.
STRIP (Make 4) … Starting at narrow end with Pink, ch 45 to measure 12 inches. Work in afghan st until 176 rows have been made, then sc around outer edge (strip should measure 11½ x 66 inches). Now work 1 more rnd as follows: With right side facing, attach Wood Brown in any sc, sl st loosely in each sc around. Join and break off.
EMBROIDERY … Examine diagram for making cross sts over afghan st, then following chart, with Emerald Green, embroider design in each strip.
POMPON (Make 112) … Wind Arabian Ombre 15 times around 2 fingers. Tie these strands at center. Cut loops at each end and trim. Sew in place, following chart.
Alternating the direction of the scrolls, with right sides together and Pink, sew strips together lengthwise along last rnd of Pink sc's (the Wood Brown sl sts remain free on right side).
BORDER … 1st rnd (right side): With Pink, sc closely around, making 3 sc in each corner. Join and break off. Block to measurements.
