To begin, make a chain one inch longer than desired length, turn. 1st row: S c in 2nd ch from hook, s c in each ch across (there should be a number of s c divisible by 10, plus 7). Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: S c in each of 7 s c, * ch 5, skip 3 s c, s c in each of next 7 s c. Repeat from * across, ending row with s c in each of 7 s c. Ch 1, turn. 3rd row: * Skip 1 s c, s c in each of next 5 s c, ch 4, s c in ch-5 loop of previous row, ch 4. Repeat from * across, ending row with s c in each of 5 s c. Ch 1, turn. 4th row: * Skip 1 s c, s c in each of next 3 s c, ch 4, s c in ch-4 loop, ch 4, s c in next ch-4 loop, ch 4. Repeat from * across, ending row with s c in each of 3 s c. Ch 1, turn. 5th row: ** Skip 1 s c, s c in next s c, * ch 4, s c in 1st loop. Repeat from * 2 more times, ch 4. Repeat from ** across, ending row with s c in center of last s c-group. Break off.
