Materials: Clark's O.N.T. "Brilliant", 1 ball of any self-shading or solid color.
Milward's steel crochet hook No. 8.

Starting at center, ch 2. 1st rnd: 6 s c in 2nd ch from hook. 2nd rnd: 2 s c in each s c around. 3rd rnd: * S c in next s c, 2 s c in next s c. Repeat from * around. Continue to make s c in each s c, increasing 6 s c at equal distances apart on each rnd, having increases fall directly over those of previous rnd, until piece covers one side of compact. Work 1 rnd without increasing. Do not break off, but make picot edge as follows: * Ch 4, sl st in 3rd st from hook, ch 1, skip 1 s c, sl st in next s c. Repeat from * across 2 sides of hexagon. Fasten and break off. Make another piece same as this, but do not break off. Place the 2 pieces together, having picot edges match, and sl st through both thicknesses around the other 4 sides of hexagon. Fasten and break off.
