We suggest thread in sizes 50 to 100

1st row: Attach thread 2 inches to left of one corner and work s c closely along rolled edge of handkerchief. Join with sl st to 1st s c made. 2nd row: Ch 4, skip 1 s c, d c in next s c; (ch 1, skip 1 s c, d c in next s c) 8 times; * ch 5, skip 3 s c, s c in next 7 s c, ch 5, skip 3 s c, d c in next sc; (ch 1, skip 1 s c, d c in next s c) 9 times. Repeat from * across, ending with 11 sps (the last d c of last sp should be made in corner s c). Ch 3, d c in same place as last d c, make 11 more sps, and continue as before, making other corners to correspond with 1st corner and joining last ch-5 with sl st to 3rd st of ch-4. 3rd row: Ch 4, d c in next d c, (ch 1, d c in next d c) 8 times; * ch 7, skip 1 s c, s c in next 5 s c, ch 7, d c in next d c; (ch 1, d c in next d c) 9 times. Repeat from * across, making corners as follows: Make 11 sps, ch 1, into ch-3 sp make d c, ch 3 and d c; ch 1, d c in next d c; 11 more sps (2 extra sps at corners). Join last ch-7 to 3rd st of ch-4. 4th row: Ch 4, * make sp over sp, ch 8, skip 1 s c, s c in next 3 s c, ch 8. Repeat from * across, making 2 extra sps at corners as for previous row. Join last ch-8 to 3rd st of ch-4. 5th row: Ch 8, s c in 5th ch from hook (p); d c in next d c; (ch-5 p, d c in next d c) 8 times; * ch 9, skip 1 s c, s c in next s c, ch 9, d c in next d c; (p, d c in next d c) 9 times. Repeat from * across, making corners as before. Join last ch-8 to 3rd st of ch-4. Fasten off.
