CLARK'S O.N.T. COTTON RUG YARN, Art. B.204: 1 ball of No. 206 Dk. Yellow. A few yards of No. 428 Autumn Glow.

Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 2/0 (double zero).

¼ yard red felt for lining and scraps of white, black, grey and blue felt for eyes...2 blue buttons; 3 black sequins and 4 small sequins; 3 white beads; 32 rhinestones...5 bone rings.

S-688 . . . Starting at center of Head with Mid Rose, ch 2. 1st rnd: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 2nd rnd: 2 sc in each sc around. 3rd rnd: * 2 sc in next sc (1 sc increased), sc in next sc. Repeat from * around. 4th rnd: Sc in each sc, increasing 6 sc evenly around. Repeat 4th rnd until piece measures 6 inches in diameter. Sl st in next sc. Break off.

HAT . . . With Hunter's Green, ch 33. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in each sc across. Break off. 3rd row: Skip first 4 sc, attach White to next sc, sc in same place, sc in each sc across to within last 4 sc. Break off. 4th row: Attach Hunter's Green to first sc, sc in same place, sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. 5th to 8th rows incl: Skip first sc, sc in each sc across to within last sc, sl st in last sc. Ch 1, turn. 9th to 12th rows incl: Sl st in first sc, sc in each sc across, sl st in last sc. Ch 1, turn. Break off at end of 12th row. Turn. 13th row: Skip 3 sc, attach Hunter's Green to next sc, sc in same place, sc in each sc to within last 3 sc. Ch 1, turn. 14th, 15th and 16th rows: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. Break off at end of 16th row.

FEATHERS . . . With Black, ch 12, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Break off. Ch 10 and make another feather the same way. Sew in place. Sew hat to head.

BRAID (Make 2) . . . Cut 12 strands of Dk. Yellow Rug Yarn, each 4 inches long. Make a braid and sew to head.

BOW (Make 2) . . . With Spanish Red make a chain 10 inches long. Tie around braid 1 inch from bottom, drawing chain through pot holder to secure it. Fringe ends of braid.

MOUTH . . . With Spanish Red, ch 12. Join with sl st to form ring. Sc in each ch around. Join and break off.

Sew a small piece of white felt to opening for teeth. Sew mouth in place. Cut a circle of blue felt, ½ inch in diameter for eye. Sew in place with a black sequin and a white bead in center. Cut eyelashes of black felt and sew one in place over one eye and reverse other one for other eye. Cut a piece of red felt slightly larger than pot holder, pink edges and sew in place for lining. With Hunter's Green, sc around a bone ring and sew in place.
