13—75 yd. Balls Blue or any Color desired.
1—75 yd. Ball White.
1½ yds.—½ inch Ribbon.
½ yd.—¼ inch Ribbon.
3 Small Buttons.
Steel Crochet Hook No. 7.

SWEATER

BACK. With Color, ch 101, s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each remaining st of ch, ch 1, turn.
2nd Row. 1 s c in each s c. Repeat the last row 4 times, ch 3, turn.
Next Row. 2 d c in same space, skip 2 s c, s c in next s c, * ch 3, 2 d c in same space, skip 2 s c, s c in next s c (shell), repeat from * across row, ch 3, turn (33 shells).
Next Row. 2 d c in s c, s c in next 3 ch loop of next shell, * ch 3, 2 d c in same space, s c in next 3 ch loop of next shell, repeat from * across row, ch 3, turn. Repeat the last row until work measures 9 inches from beginning, then work 1 s c in each d c and 1 s c in each 3 ch loop, ch 1, turn.
Next 2 Rows. 1 s c in each s c, break thread.
FRONT. Work same as back until work measures 5¾ inches from beginning.
Next Row. Work 16 shells ending with s c in 3 ch loop of center shell, ch 3, turn and work back and forth on the 16 shells until work measures 9 inches from beginning ending at side of work.
Next Row. Work 10 shells, s c in next 3 ch loop, ch 3, turn and work back and forth on the 10 shells for 4 more rows, finish with 3 rows of s c same as back, break thread. Join thread in 1st free shell at center, * ch 3, 2 d c in same space, s c in next 3 ch loop of next shell, repeat from * across row, then work back and forth in shell pattern to neck. Decrease 6 shell patterns for neck and finish same as other half.
Sew shoulder seams. Sew side seams to within 3½ inches from shoulder for armholes.
SLEEVES. Join thread at underarm and work a shell in each 3 ch loop working 1 shell at shoulder (21 shells around armhole). Join each row and turn each row. Work in shell pattern until sleeve measures 5½ inches or length desired.
Next Row. * 1 s c in 3 ch loop, 1 s c in next d c, skip 1 d c, repeat from * all around ending row with s c in next s c.
Next 3 Rows. Without joining or turning, work 1 s c in each s c, break thread.
EDGE. Attach White, * ch 3, 2 d c in same space, skip 2 s c, s c in next s c, repeat from * all around, break thread. Work other sleeve to correspond.
COLLAR. Attach Color at top of neck opening of left front, work a row of s c down front opening and up other side, around neck edge, down left front opening, work 3 ch 7 loops for buttonholes on right front opening, then work in s c around neck edge only for 13 more rows (collar) break thread. Attach White at neck opening and finish collar same as sleeves.

CAP

With Color, ch 5, join to form a ring, ch 3 and work 15 d c into ring, join in ch 3.
2nd Row. Ch 1, 1 s c in each d c, join in 1st s c.
3rd Row. Ch 1, 1 s c in same space, * 2 s c in next s c, 1 s c in next s c, repeat from * all around, join in 1st s c.
4th Row. Ch 1, * 1 s c in each of the next 2 s c, 2 s c in next s c, repeat from * all around.
5th Row. 1 s c in each s c, join in 1st s c.
6th Row. Ch 3, * thread over needle, insert in same space and work off 2 loops, repeat from *, thread over and work off all loops at one time, ** ch 1, cluster st in next st (cluster st: thread over needle, insert in st, work off 2 loops, * thread over insert in same space and work off 2 loops, repeat from *, thread over and work off all loops at one time), repeat from ** all around, ch 1, join (32 cluster sts).
7th Row. Ch 1, work 2 s c over each ch 1, join in 1st s c.
Next 2 Rows. 1 s c in each s c, join in 1st s c.
10th Row. 1 cluster st in each s c with ch 1 between each cluster st, join (64 cluster sts).
11th Row. 1 s c in next ch 1 loop, 2 s c in next ch 1 loop, repeat from beginning all around, join in 1st s c.
12th, 13th & 14th Rows. 1 s c in each s c, join in 1st s c.
Repeat the 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th rows.
Next Row. Ch 3, 2 d c in same space, skip 3 s c, s c in next s c, * ch 3, 2 d c in same space, skip 3 s c, repeat from * all around, (36 shells) join and turn.
Next 2 Rows. Work in shell pattern.
Next Row. Work 32 shells, turn. Work back and forth on the 32 shells for 20 more rows.
Next Row. 1 s c in each d c, 1 s c in each 3 ch loop, turn.
Next 12 Rows. 1 s c in each s c, turn.
Next Row. Working across neck edge only work 1 s c in each row, 1 s c at base of each shell and 2 s c over side of each shell, turn.
Next 3 Rows. 1 s c in each s c, break thread.
With White work a row of shells around entire cap. Finish with ribbon as illustrated.

BOOTIES

With Color, ch 32, d c in 4th st from hook, 1 d c in each of the next 27 sts of ch, 3 d c in end st of ch working along other side of ch, 1 d c in each of the next 27 sts, 1 d c in same space with ch 3, join (heel).
2nd Row. Ch 3, 2 d c in same space, 2 d c in next d c, 1 d c in each of the next 27 d c, 1 d c in each of the next 4 d c, 1 d c in each of the next 27 d c, 2 d c in each of the next 2 d c, join.
3rd Row. Ch 3, 2 d c in same space, 2 d c in each of the next 2 d c, 1 d c in each of the next 30 d c, 2 d c in each of the next 5 d c, 1 d c in each of the next 30 d c, 2 d c in each remaining d c, join.
4th Row. Ch 3, 2 d c in same space, 2 d c in each of the next 4 d c, 1 d c in each of the next 32 d c, 2 d c in each of the next 7 d c, 1 d c in each of the next 32 d c, 1 d c in each remaining d c, join.
Next Row. 1 s c in each d c, join, ch 3.
Next Row. Working in back loop of st only, work 1 d c in each s c, join.
Next 3 Rows. Working in back loop of st only, 1 d c in each d c, join.
Next Row. Working in both loops, 1 s c in each d c, join, break thread.
BEADING. With right side of work toward you, attach Color in 28th s c from heel, ch 3, d c in next s c, * ch 1, skip 1 s c, 1 d c in each of the next 2 d c, repeat from * 17 times, ch 4, turn.
Next Row. * 2 d c in next ch 1 loop, ch 1, repeat from * across row ending with d c in last d c, break thread. With White, work a row of shells across top of beading, break thread.
TRIM. With Color, ch 5, join to form a ring, ch 4 and work 11 d c with ch 1 between each d c in ring, ch 1, join to 3rd st of ch.
Next Row. Ch 3, d c in next ch 1 loop, * ch 3, sl st in top of d c just made for picot, repeat from * twice, ch 3, s c in next ch 1 loop, ch 3, d c in next loop, picot in top of d c just made, ch 1, s c in 12th s c from the center s c of toe of bootee, * ch 1, sl st in top of last d c of trim to complete picot, picot in same d c, ch 3, s c in next ch 1 loop, ch 3, d c in next ch 1 loop, picot in top of d c just made, ch 1, skip 5 s c of bootee, s c in next s c, repeat from * 3 times, ch 1, sl st in top of last d c of trim, picot in same d c, ch 3, s c in next ch 1 loop, break thread.
ROSETTE. With White, ch 5, join to form a ring, * ch 3, s c in ring, repeat from * 5 times.
Next Row. In each loop work 1 s c, ch 3, 4 d c with ch 1 between each d c, ch 3, 1 s c, break thread. Sew in position to top of trim.
Lace ribbon through 2nd row of beading.
