Sizes 2 and 4

Materials Required: AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "STAR" PEARL COTTON, ARTICLE 90, SIZE 5, 50 YD. BALLS
Size 2: 9 Balls Color, 8 Balls White
Size 4: 10 Balls Color, 9 Balls White
1 yd. Elastic ⅜" wide.
Steel Crochet Hook No. 8.

Gauge: 7 sts = 1 inch.
Directions are given for size 2, size 4 is given in brackets.

PATTERN. Work 1 row of s c, ch 1, turn.
2nd Row. * Work 1 s c in back loop of st and next s c in front loop of st, repeat from * to end of row and repeat 2nd row for pattern working 4 rows with White and 4 rows with Color. The pattern and Color scheme will not be referred to again.
BLOOMERS. With White, ch 13 and work 1 row of s c.
Next Row. Increase 1 st at the beginning of row, then increase 1 st at the same edge every row until there are 2 White stripes and 2 Color stripes (all increases and decreases are made on the same side. Other side which is the leg side is worked even throughout). Work 3 rows of the next White stripe continuing the increases, ch 40 (42) turn. Work 1 s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each st of ch and complete White stripe. Work 4 stripes even.
Next Row. Decrease 1 st at waist edge, then decrease 1 st at same edge in the 1st row of next 3 Color stripes. Work even until there are 16 (17) White stripes and 15 (16) Color stripes in all. Work 2 rows of next Color stripe.
Next Row. Work the 1st 26 sts, ch 1, turn.
Next Row. Decrease 1 st at the beginning of row, then decrease 1 st at same edge of each row until 13 sts remain, break thread. Work a 2nd section to correspond. Press each piece. Sew leg, front and back seams matching stripes. Attach Color at waist edge, work 3 s c in each stripe, then work a 2nd row of s c even, break thread. Attach Color on lower edge of leg, work 2 s c in each stripe, then work a 2nd row of s c even, break thread and work other leg to correspond.
WAIST BAND. With Color, ch 13, s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each remaining st of ch, ch 1, turn.
2nd Row. 1 s c in each s c picking up the back loop of st only, ch 1, turn and repeat 2nd row until band measures 20 (21) inches, break thread and sew ends together.
LEG BANDS. With Color, ch 9 and work same as waist band for 9 (9½) inches. Sew all bands in position easing in any fullness.

BRA. With Color, ch 20 (26) and work in pattern for 12 (13) inches, break thread. With White, work 3 rows of s c across long sides.
TIES. Across short sides, with White, work 12 s c across row.
Next Row. Decrease to 7 sts and work even in s c until tie measures 9 inches or length desired. Finish long sides with a row of s c.
Band for Center of Bra. With White, ch 5 and work in s c for 2 inches.
STRAP. Ch 6 and work in s c for 10 inches or length desired. Finish long sides with a row of s c. Shirr Bra through center and attach band and strap in position.
