MATERIALS:
J. & P. COATS CROCHET CORD, 2 balls of White, Ecru or any color.
Steel Crochet Hook No. 6.
Starting at bottom, ch 61 (to measure about 6 ½ inches). 1st row: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in next 7 ch, * ch 1, skip 1 ch, dc in next 9 ch. Repeat from * across. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: Dc in next 8 dc, * ch 1, skip next ch-1, dc in next 9 dc. Repeat from * across, ending with dc in top st of turning ch. Ch 3, turn. 3rd and 4th rows: Same as 2nd row. Ch 4 at end of 4th row, turn. 5th row: * Skip 1 st, dc in next dc, ch 1. Repeat from * across, ending with dc in top st of turning ch. Ch 3, turn. 6th row: * (Dc in next sp, dc in next dc) 4 times; ch 1, dc in next dc. Repeat from * across, ending with dc in last sp, dc in 3rd st of turning ch. Ch 3, turn. Repeat 2nd to 6th rows incl until 5 rows of solid squares have been worked, ending with the 4th row. Fasten off.
Make another piece same as this, but do not fasten off. Place these pieces over each other and, working through both thicknesses, make a row of sc all around, increasing as necessary to turn corners. Now work sc in each sc around. Join and fasten off.
RING . . . Ch 16. Join with sl st to form ring. Ch 1, work sc closely in ring. Join with sl st in 1st sc made. Fasten off, leaving an end. Using this end, sew ring to one corner of pot holder.
